Devotional chanting, sung together.
Kirtan is one of the oldest practices of the heart. The call-and-response singing of mantra, simple phrases repeated and woven into melody. You don't need to know the words or consider yourself a singer. The voices around you carry you, and before long you find yourself part of the sound rather than performing it.
Led on harmonium, guitar and voice, each chant builds slowly, gathering energy as the room sings together. When a group of people raise their voices in the same direction, the separateness softens, the heart opens, and what remains is a feeling of belonging that's hard to name and easy to recognize.
Come as you are. Sing loud, sing quiet, or simply listen. This is a practice of community, presence, and devotion and there's a seat for you in it.
