In Depth
Welcome to the advanced Sound Practitioner Training
Everything you need before the training is on this page.
welcome
We’re excited that you are joining us!
In Depth is a practical training. Over three days we work on instrument technique, voice, facilitation & the craft of building a business that's ethical and sustainable. It works more like a lab than a course: we bring the structure and we explore the rest together. A good part of what you'll take home will come from the other people in the room. We keep the group intentionally small so there's time for each person to be properly seen and worked with.
This page has three things on it: your preparation booklet, a short form to complete before we meet & the practical details for the three days.
two things before we meet
There are two parts to your preparation. One you send to us, one you bring with you.
The first is to complete the form below. It tells us what we need in order to prepare the room and support you well. Please send it as soon as possible.
The second is to start preparing. Download your preparation booklet and work through it in whatever way suits you. It holds reflective writing, a daily sound practice, guidance on your professional presence & the practical details for the days themselves.
Give yourself a few weeks with them rather than rushing through them in just a few days.
the preparation booklet
A Handbook covering what to reflect on, what to practise & what to bring.
Inside you'll find written prompts on your work and how you present it, reflections on your relationship with your voice, a short daily practice to keep between now and the training, reading list and full practical details.
We'd suggest reading it in order and starting the daily practice as soon as you can.
the questionnaire
Short answers are fine. These help us prepare properly for the room, for the group & for you. Everything you write here is read only by Natalija and Jonny & stays with us.
certification
The three days in person are the foundation. What comes after is where the professional side of your practice deepens.
The sadhana. Following the training you'll take on a structured 30-hour sadhana; a daily practice with a clear outline. You'll receive the full framework on the final day.
The integration call. A month after the training we come together online as a group. We look at where everyone has got to with the sadhana, talk through what's come up, and work out what's still missing.
Your recorded session. Everyone receives an assessment during the three days, along with the task of recording a 30-minute session and sending it to us. We listen to it properly and come back to you with feedback. There's no deadline on this; send it when you're ready and when it fits your own pace.
Certification. Everyone who completes the three days receives a certificate of participation & the hours count toward continuing education under YACEP.
what to bring
-
We'll have our full collection at the venue and you'll have the chance to play instruments you don't own. But the practical sessions work on your own set, the instruments you'll be using in your own sessions after the training. If your set is small, bring it as it is.
-
Your responses to the reflections along with your current bio, website text or booking page in a format you can edit. A laptop or tablet is useful for the branding session. Also bring your practice journal, your notes, and your answers to the voice prompts.
-
Comfortable layers for movement and lying down, warm socks, a water bottle, a notebook and pen. Mats, blankets and cushions are available at the venue.
-
Strong perfume or scented products. We share a close space and some people are sensitive
Loose jewellery, flowing skirts or wide trousers for the playing days
caring for the instrumentsworking with the instruments
We'll be working closely with a wide range of instruments across the three days. Many of them have been with us a long time. Please follow these guidelines during the training so they stay safe and can keep being played for years to come.
❋ CLEAN HANDSPlease wash your hands before working with the instruments and again after breaks. Oils from skin leave marks and clear crystal bowls show every touch.
❋ HANDLINGPlease don't pick up, move or play an instrument without checking with us first. Nothing goes inside a bowl. No mallets or anything else. Crystal chips easily and the damage is permanent. Mallets rest on the floor beside the bowl, never inside it.
❋ CLOTHING AND JEWELLERYPlease avoid wearing jewellery or flowing fabric while playing. Jewellery catches on rims and edges & a loose sleeve or a wide trouser leg can knock a bowl over as you move past it.
❋ NEVER STEP OVER AN INSTRUMENTPlease walk around rather than over anything laid out on the floor, even when it means taking the longer way. This is partly practical: instruments get knocked and people trip and partly about how we hold them. In many traditions, stepping over an instrument is understood as a lack of respect toward it.

instruments & the shop
For the curious beginner, the experienced practitioner & everyone in between. With this collection, we invite you to deepen your relationship with sound.
We built the shop around instruments we play and use ourselves. What we wanted was to be able to point our students toward instruments we trust and can stand behind.
You have 10% off the whole instrument collection as a student. Each Himalayan bowl is chosen by hand and each crystal bowl made from scratch once your order comes in, so allow three to four weeks from order to arrival.
If you already have an existing collection and would like to expand and add to it we're always glad to talk through what might suit to your current set up.
Our collection.
beyond the training
As we grow along this path, different things come up. Questions that are easier talked through than worked out alone. Moments when it helps to have someone alongside who knows your practice.
For that, we offer one-to-one mentorship alongside single sessions on specific questions; building your offering and thinking strategically about where it's going, refining technique, choosing which instruments to bring in next, or working through something that feels stuck.
We work with a small number of practitioners at a time so that each relationship has proper attention. Details and availability are shared during the training.
